    The museum's newest exhibition, "Thos. Moser: Legacy in Wood" will be open through January 13, 2018. "Thos. Moser: Legacy in Wood" is a traveling exhibition organized by the Maine College of Art and illustrates the artistic vision of Tom Moser, Maine's legendary furniture maker. The book, "Thos. Moser: Legacy in Wood" is for sale in the Museum Store.

  • Museum Exhibition Features Rare Maliseet-Made Blanket Coat

    A rare and early blanket coat, or capote, takes center stage in the exhibit, "Beyond Boundaries: The World of the Capote." On public view for the first time, the capote, with moccasins and matching leggings, shows beautiful porcupine quill embroidery and dyed moose hair tassels bound with tinkling cones. The exhibition will be on view through September 2017.

  • Smithsonian Magazine's Museum Day Set for September 23

    On Saturday, September 23, the Maine State Museum will open its doors free of charge as part of Smithsonian magazine's Museum Day.
